The A squad had a superb season starting with promotion from Division III after topping the table during Phase I ((before Christmas). The team showed great maturity and no little fighting spirit. With Malachy joining from the B squad in January the A team went on to push for a second promotion right up until the two games. This really was an outstanding achievement and augurs well for the future. After a poor start to the first of six tournaments, the boys went on to reach three finals, winning one (NPTFC), and reaching a further semi-final. The arrival of Joe strengthened our attack as well as adding further depth to the squad.
There have been some outstanding individual and team performances throughout the year. In the end, Conor won the Player's Player Award, Matt won the Most Improved and Stanley won the Manager's Player award. But Ben, Brandon, Ollie, Ryan, Tyrese and Zak all picked up Man of the Match awards along the way.
We also had some really enjoyable Headstone Manor events: a sunny weekend of football (and swimming) in Hastings, a hugely enjoyable sponsored bike race, and a great afternoon of bowling to finish off the campaign. We also learned some skills, some football know-how, and hopefully something about life. We have much to look forward to in the new season. Well done boys (John & Pat).
